A Meditation On Mattering
As we are heading bravely into this new year we are taking a moment to remind ourselves of a few essential details before the year gets underway: You matter, and when you matter, you will thrive.
At Shanti Elixirs We are stepping boldly into the world with the certainty that what we are doing as a company matters. How we interact with our food matters. How we impact our community matters. How we treat our employees matter and what we give back to the world matters. We know that a global shift requires the shifting of minds into a space where we all know just how much we have always mattered.
This meditation requires some moments of rest and integration when you are through. We recommend that you do this meditation while lying down and when you are done, please continue to lay or nap a little while longer.
Before beginning this meditation, write a list of all of the things that you wish you knew as a child:
I Wish I Knew:
- That I mattered
- That I am resilient
- That I will make it through hard things
- That I am so loved and taken care of by God, Creator, The Universe….
- That I will always be ok, even when things look grim
- That it is okay to be Self-Full
- How to trust and follow my inner intuition
- How to trust myself
- How to listen to my heart
- How to…..
When you are through with your list, read it over several times and when you feel ready, lay down and close your eyes.
The Meditation on Mattering:
Find yourself a comfortable space to lie. Gently massage the body and let it know that it is safe, that this meditation is for its highest good and that no harm will come its way. Close your eyes and allow yourself to slowly come to stillness. Notice your breathing as it slows. Notice yourself relaxing, from your limbs to your torso, all relaxing and growing heavy with stillness.
As you relax, call your mind to the attention of your breathing then to the attention of your heart.
Imagine yourself in a sweet and cozy room. Sunlight drifts through the window and the peace in the space is calming and inviting. In this room there is a crib. You walk over to the crib and there is a small baby that is deeply sleeping. You realize that that baby is you and your heart opens to this child immediately. This baby is safe in this space, is happily dozing and is ready to receive all the love that you are about to give. You reach into the crib and pick up this sleeping child and lovingly look into your small face. While gently rocking yourself, open your heart and allow your wishes, now gifts, to flow out.
To my younger self I give the gift of knowing that you matter and that you will always matter for the rest of your life. Repeat this for each gift that you bestow upon your small self and when you are through gently kiss your small cheeks and place your small self back in your crib and quietly exit the room by gently opening your eyes.
Welcome back. Stretch, yawn and gently massage your body to discharge the energy. Take a few deep breaths in and out through the nose and continue laying down or even napping for a little while longer.
You are safe. You matter.
Using your imagination you can visit your younger self at any stage of your life as many times as you wish. Be sure to place yourself in the safe and quiet room you have created for yourself. With each visit, give yourself something that you need and feel the gift land in your heart and mind.
You Matter. And when you know that you matter your entire world will reflect that knowing.
