Looking for some self care practices? Eating whole foods is one way to clear up skin problems 🥕🥒🥬🍓, drinking and eating probiotics is important too. There’s another way Jun (which contains pre + probiotics btw! 💞) is good for your skin! Did you know you can use Jun skin care right on your face, or simply use a SCOBY?!

🌟 Here are some easy recipes you can try at home!

Note: If you have sensitive skin, test all recipes on a small section of skin before applying!

Jun Facial Care

In these recipes you will read Jun starter liquid, which means Jun that has brewed for a longer period of time making it more acidic. Extended fermented or brewed Jun is often referred to as Jun vinegar, or strong starter liquid and can be used in a similar way to apple cider vinegar. If you don’t currently brew Jun at home, no worries Shanti Elixirs Original Unflavored and Low Fizz Jun are an excellent way to get high quality Jun liquid to use in all of the recipes below.

You can put Jun on your face and it works wonderfully as a natural facial toner either on it’s own or with other ingredients such as rose water and witch hazel. Jun is acidic, the ideal pH level for Jun is between 2.6 and 3 and our Jun is always under 3. The longer Jun is brewed for, the more likely it will have a lower pH level.

Facial toners will help cleanse and remove impurities from your face. A facial toner will also help smooth and balance out skin tone, hence the name ‘toner’. Toners will often cleanse and unclog the pores which can be beneficial to acne sufferers!

For a lovely face spritz, keep your Jun toner in a spray bottle in the fridge. A great way to cool down and give your skin some love!

Many off the shelf skincare lines contain tea and/or kombucha and Jun vinegar due to the anti-aging effects of EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) found in tea, plus tea is wonderfully gentle yet powerfully detoxifying.

The base of Jun is strongly brewed green tea – containing powerful antioxidants which fight DNA damage from UV rays preventing skin cancer. That means it’s also a potent anti-aging ingredient that combats signs of premature aging when ingested or applied topically.

Kombucha and Jun contain heaps of antioxidants which aid in detoxifying the body, and have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties! If used directly on the skin, it will help even skin tone, brighten the skin and will also aid in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving a youthful glow and firmness to the skin!

The minerals in kaolin clay can remove oils, secretions, and contaminants from the skin. They serve as cleansing and refreshing agents by absorbing moisture and impurities and by reducing blemishes.

The anti-inflammatory properties of rose water can help reduce skin redness, prevent additional swelling, and soothe the discomfort of acne. Rosewater can be used on the skin daily.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV)  is made from apples using a fermentation process enriching it with live cultures, minerals, and acids. Just like apple cider vinegar, Jun has some amounts of acetic acid, and acetic acid greatly benefits your hair because of its antimicrobial properties. It can greatly help in cleaning your hair and scalp and preventing the growth of bacteria, fungi or dandruff.

Hair that looks dull, brittle, or frizzy tends to be more alkaline or higher on the pH scale. The idea is that an acid substance, like ACV or Jun, helps lower pH and brings hair health back into balance.

Jun is rich in vitamins and minerals good for hair, like vitamin C and B. Some also claim it contains alpha-hydroxy acid which helps exfoliate scalp skin, and that it’s anti-inflammatory, which can help with dandruff.

Jun is so wonderful because it has benefits both internally and externally! Drinking Jun and using it topically will have so many benefits for your skin and ultimately your overall health and wellness. We hope you enjoy these recipes and share them with your loved ones!

Sending you love, peace and good vibes!
