What is CBD and Hemp Extract?
CBD is one of over 100 compounds found in the cannabis family that belong to a class of molecules called cannabinoids. Of these cannabinoids, CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are typically present in the highest concentrations and are therefore the most recognized and studied. CBD cannabinoid levels tend to vary among the various strains of cannabis. The hemp plant has a higher concentration of CBD than THC.

What’s the difference between CBD isolate and full-spectrum CBD?
Full-spectrum CBD products are made from the entire hemp plant and include a variety of cannabinoids beyond CBD, along with THC, terpenes and flavonoids! When the entire plant is used, the full-spectrum CBD contains multiple cannabis plant extracts, essential oils, terpenes and other cannabinoids such as cannabinol. Also, amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins A, B, C, E and minerals like magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc! Full-spectrum hemp also contains trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid in cannabis that makes you feel elated or “high.” The trace amount is not strong enough to have a psychotropic effect on a person. Terpenes, fatty acids and other plant-based compounds may help the CBD interact with your body more thoroughly. Since you’re getting all of the different organic compounds from hemp in your full spectrum hemp product, it’s essential to make sure that the extraction company starts with excellent hemp, which is why we chose East Fork Cultivars!
There are different ways to make hemp extracts water soluble and East Fork Cultivars uses a process called Sonic Nano Particulation. In this process, sound waves are used to break down the hemp particles so that the hemp can be suspended in water The emulsification process that follows has the wonderful side effect of increased bioavailability. This is just a fancy way of saying that your body will be able to more quickly and effectively absorb the cannabinoids.
With a range of reported health benefits, uses for full-spectrum CBD include:
- muscle spasm relief
- pain relief
- treatment for psychotic disorders
CBD isolate contains no other cannabis plant compounds. It usually comes from hemp plants, which typically contain very low amounts of THC. CBD isolate is a crystal form of CBD, and it is often ground up and used as a powder. The CBD extraction process involves; carbon dioxide extraction, steam distillation, solvent extraction, and lipid extraction.
