What Are Prebiotics?
Prebiotics are foods (typically high-fiber foods) that act as food for human microflora. They act like fertilizers that stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut.
Raw honey is recognized as a prebiotic, since it has oligosaccharides that can promote the growth of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, in addition to antimicrobial components which can act synergistically with the probiotics against certain pathogens.
